INTRODUCTION TO ACTING

with Mairtin O’Carrigan. Focus is on basic acting technique, dialect coaching and Shakespeare study, auditioning, building a character, acting styles throughout the ages, and soliloquy work in addition to gaining valuable information on the business (eg. headshots, agents, unions, etc). Both group and private classes are available for dramatic arts.

FILM & TELEVISION

develops on camera techniques like how to cheat the camera and how to use the depth in your eyes to allow the words to move your body. Students will put all taught techniques into play using scenes, skits, and one-liners, while learning what and where their niche is, and how to make it work. See what you look like on the big screen with a full on-camera program complete with a 48” x 60” monitor. Taught by international casting director, Juli-Ann Kay.

  • Ages 6 – 12 (beginner level)
  • Ages 13 – adult (Level 1, 2, 3)

DRAMA/IMPROV FOR KIDS

A one hour class to introduce students to the basics of acting and improvisation in a classroom style atmosphere. Exercises will include theatre games, text work, reading aloud, voice work (non-singing), movement, and improvisation for theatre.

MUSIC THEATRE FOR KIDS

A one hour class to introduce students to the basics of acting, singing, and dancing. Performance skills are developed through theatre games, improvisation, character study, vocal and physical awareness, and speech and improvisation. Learn modern Broadway songs with choreography; write, direct, and star in a commercial; work on a scene, monologue, and skit. Students will work in both individual and group atmospheres creating a well-rounded performance environment. All skill levels welcome! Express yourself and have fun!

  • Ages 7 – 13

MUSIC THEATRE INTENSIVE TRAINING PROGRAM.

This course is designed to give the best overall training of all 3 disciplines of performing arts in a group/class atmosphere. Acting, Singing, and Dancing. Included weekly is 1 ballet and 1 jazz class (from the existing dance class schedule, 1 choreography class, One 2-hour theatre dramatic arts class, 1 vocal technique/solo performance class, 1 ensemble class (covering group vocals/harmony/speech arts), and one 2-hour rehearsal/audition class. Throughout the year, guest artists will be coming up from Toronto to teach specialty workshops. The final performance will be audited by artistic directors and agents alike with a full day-long workshop for the student actors.

This course has a 20 person maximum. Students must audition to be considered and accepted for this program. Auditions will take place on Monday, August 15th. If you can not make the audition day, we will accept video or dvd submissions to be dropped at the studio no later than Aug. 15. Audition requirements:

1 song (music theatre genre) – please supply sheet music for your accompanist in the correct key 1 monologue – if you do not have a monologue, we will provide a cold reading You will be expected to dance so please wear comfortable clothing and suitable footwear.

*Please note that you do not need extensive experience on stage to participate in this program. We are simply looking for students under the age of 18 who show a positive attitude and interest, and who have a workable potential in any or all of the three disciplines.
