The studio’s policy in regard to missed lessons has not changed. As per the registration package, “There is no adjustment made for an occasional student absence and no credit will be given for lessons not attended.”
If there are extenuating circumstances (eg. severe illness, death in the family, etc.) and advanced notice is given, lessons may be made up at the discretion of the teacher. Last minute cancellations and no shows will not be made up and no credit will be received. During the winter months we understand that weather may create driving issues and we do take that into consideration when choosing to stay open or close for the day. If the studio is closed, each student will receive a call/email and confirmation of the cancellation and the lesson will be rescheduled. If the studio is open, lessons will continue per the norm and those lessons missed will be considered absent and will not be made up.
Please understand that the day-to-day scheduling is tight and a last minute absence does not take away the time that the teacher has booked for you at the studio. We do understand and try to be flexible but continual make-up lessons create conflict and require an extreme amount of extra time outside the regular teaching hours. The majority of the student body is understanding of our policy, however there are always a few who expect a large amount of schedule changes.
Your teachers are professional performing musicians and performers and may need to cancel lessons on occasion. All lessons cancelled by your teacher will be rescheduled at a suitable time for you.
